I don’t know why, I always feel traumatized when I see an anime that shows the friendship between a little girl and a dog. Takopi's Original Sin / Takopii no Genzai. It tells a story like a dark version of Doraemon. An alien that looks like a squid, named Takopi, comes to Earth with a mission to spread happiness. Who would have thought that the person he meets is a little girl with an incredibly grim life named Shizuka. Her father left her to start a new family, her mother neglects her, and she’s tormented at school. These things are all true, but Shizuka is also someone who would knowingly steal another girl’s boyfriend, manipulate her friend into admitting to a crime he didn’t commit, and attack her half-siblings because she decided they’d eaten her dog. It’s easy to say but hard to do. With a pure heart, Takopi tries to bring Shizuka happiness again. But without realizing it, he gets dragged into a world full of emotions far beyond what he ever imagined, something he never expected as an innocent, naive creature. Takopi only wants to see Shizuka smile again… But what has he really done? What kind of sin is he ultimately burdened with? This anime has an insanely high rating: 9.2 on IMDB and 8.8 on MyAnimeList. I got scared when I watching it. Overall, you’ll witness the darkest sides of humanity in the most unsettling way.
