Tongus the Lickbone is one of Matt Furie’s long-running and quietly recurring characters. The creature recently resurfaced when an early hand-drawn artwork featuring Tongus was sold on Mercari for 50,000 JPY, with the transaction completed on November 2, 2025. The same character also appears in Furie’s newer works, including his book Cortex Vortex, showing how deeply woven Tongus is throughout his artistic history.
